ME: Man Found Hanged In Staten Island Jail Cell Committed Suicide

An autopsy was conducted and the cause of death was ruled a suicide. The 57-year-old was found hanged in his jail cell late last week, after he was arrested when police caught him sleeping in a restaurant on Staten Island.

Authorities: Man Wounded In Staten Island Police Shooting Has Extensive Record

One of the officers fired and hit the suspect in the torso. The wounded man kept driving before crashing into another vehicle and a utility, police said. He then attempted to flee on foot, but was eventually apprehended by the Gang Squad.

Cops: Man In Police-Involved Shooting Has Lengthy Rap Sheet

The shooting happened after police were called to Castleton Avenue and Treadwell Avenue in Port Richmond around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, police said. Police said a man in his 20s pointed a gun at responding officers.
