The loophole covers more than 600 buildings, including the Jacob Javits Convention Center, hospitals, youth centers and offices, plus state-owned buildings leased out to restaurants and stores.

A day after Salvatore DePaola’s acquittal, a second construction-company supervisor was acquitted of manslaughter and all other charges in a fire that killed two firefighters at the condemned Deutsche Bank tower at Ground Zero.

1 Acquitted In Fatal Ground Zero Fire At Former Deutsche Bank Building

For nearly four years, construction supervisor Salvatore DePaola and two co-workers have been accused of responsibility for the deaths of two firefighters in the Deutsche Bank fire at ground zero. But on Tuesday a jury acquitted DePaola of all charges.
