Rockland County officials have found the first group of mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus this year.
A skunk in Clarkstown has tested positive for rabies after coming into contact with a dog belonging to an area resident, Rockland County health officials said Wednesday.
According to the Rockland County Health Department, there have been 66 cases since Nov. 1, centered in Ramapo.
The Rockland County Health Department is offering free vaccines following a Hepatitis A scare.
A Rockland County woman and her dog are undergoing anti-rabies treatment after it was determined the coyote that attacked them early Tuesday morning did have rabies.
“We saw the connection between the family meal and an umbrella of protective factors,” said school health coordinator Carrie Steindorff. “It protects against drug use… It is also is a protective factor against obesity.”
