Gov. Chris Christie says the changes put Rutgers “on the path to being one of America’ great research institutions.”
The hard-fought changes will give Rutgers University a medical school, through a merger with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. As part of the restructuring, UMDNJ’s osteopathic school will be folded into Rowan University. The Glassboro campus will also become a research institution. The rest of UMDNJ falls under Rutgers campuses in Newark and New Brunswick.
Things got a bit out of hand at one of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s town hall meetings on Thursday, when a shouting match ended with the governor calling an audience member an idiot.
Twenty-three-year-old Landis Husser of Woodstown received a seven-year term for his role in the attacks.
Authorities said one victim was cut on his left side when a group of males — armed with baseball bats and a knife — attacked the pair around 2:25 a.m.
