“I read the formation, the tight end, how he was set, and I caught the ball,” said Pierre-Paul, who told teammates in the huddle before the play that he was going to pick the pass.
It certainly was not pretty, but at this point in the season, style points do not matter. The New York Giants played rope-a-dope with the Oakland Raiders, and running back Andre Brown delivered the knockout punch in New York’s 24-20 victory over the Silver and Black on Sunday in a windy MetLife Stadium.
What can’t Brown do for you? Andre Brown led the way with a 115-yard performance in Sunday’s 24-20 win over the Raiders.
Coach Tom Coughlin’s team played what may have been its most complete game of the season, albeit with flaws. So let’s hand out some game balls and gassers.
Josh Freeman’s debut as a Viking was the boost that the New York Football Giants needed as the G-men snapped their six game losing streak with a 23-7 victory over Minnesota. New York’s initial victory of the 2013 campaign was not a thing of beauty, but the Giants were able to hold Adrian Peterson to a mere 28 yards rushing, requiring Freeman to raise the level of his play to a level that the league had not seen in several years. Freeman was not able to come through; completing only 38 percent of his passes on the evening.

It’s a recurring theme for the Giants, as a crucial turnover in the fourth quarter doomed New York. Eli Manning overthrew Brandon Myers, and Tim Jennings intercepted the errant pass to preserve the Bears 27-21 victory over New York. The Giants are 0-6 for only the second time in team history.
The Giants were moving the ball, driving for the potential winning score when Eli Manning got picked off one final time. And the losing streak continues.
Even though the opponent and venue figure to be difficult to deal with, Eli Manning is actually happy his Giants play again on Thursday. Then again, when you are 0-5 beggars really can’t be choosers.
Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles tossed two fourth quarter touchdown passes, as Philadelphia rallied to hand the New York Giants their fifth straight defeat to start the season. With the win, Philadelphia climbed into a first place tie with the Dallas Cowboys, who lost at home to the Denver Broncos. Both Dallas and Philadelphia are 2-3 on the season.
Pick out any stat you’d like from the Giants’ embarrassing 38-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers. This game was ugly and, after an 0-3 start, it’s apparent that the team’s problems are worse than the coaching staff might have thought.
The Giants are 0-2. It’s not an inescapable hole. There may be many days ahead. But bad things don’t happen to good teams. The performance level must rise.
The Giants turned over the ball six times in their 36-31 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
