Rye Middle and High School students suffered through some scary moments Monday, as a bomb threat ripped through the community with fear.
Every one of the more than 100 students and teachers from Rye High School who fell ill after attending a dinner at the Willow Ridge Country Club are expected to recover.
Rye High School’s stately stone facade evokes images of the Ivy League and people usually feel safe and protected in the upscale corner of Westchester County.
Prosecutors mentioned a possible plea deal in the works before the judge cleared the courtroom. Whether a deal is reached will also remain blocked from public record because the case is now sealed.
Rye High School juniors Max Meyerson, Sean Pinson and Tristan Scaggs all face second degree assault and other charges after police said they took part in a brutal ritual known around Rye as “Freshman Friday.”
Students at Rye High School say the “Freshman Friday” beat down is a tradition but this year it was particularly brutal.
Police said several eighth graders were forced into a car then driven to a wooded area on Friday. That’s where investigators said they were paddled with a large piece of lumber, causing bruising and other injuries.
Seven Westchester County high schools now have a program to combat domestic violence among teens.
