Daniel Murphy, Mets Avoid Arbitration; Second Baseman Agrees To $2.9M Deal

Second baseman Daniel Murphy and the Mets have agreed to a one-year contract worth $2,925,000, avoiding salary arbitration.

Arbitration Players Average 123 Percent Increase

This year’s group went from an average of $1.68 million to $3.76 million. Last year, the 128 players in arbitration increased from an average of $1.4 million to $3.09 million. The record average of $3.26 million was set in 2004.
