More than 300 mourners were in attendance at the Upper Room Christian World Center in Dix Hills, east of New York City and a few miles north of the West Babylon home where the 25-year-old Belcher was raised.
A New York church is holding services for Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. The services will be held on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upper Room Christian World Center in Dix Hills.
According to a report, at least seven NFL players in the last seven days have gone to their team’s security officers and turned in their firearms.
The days since Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend and then shot himself in the head have been very difficult for his mother, who said Wednesday that the slayings have not diminished her love for the couple.
Kansas City Chiefs officials knew that linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend were having relationship problems, and the team provided the couple with counseling in an effort to help, a police official said.
Sometimes we get so lost in the lingo, between nickel packages, pass routes and ankle sprains, that we fly past the far more basic answer in a game that is still about physicality.
