Stores are hoping Americans who’ve been tight-fisted with their money will get the last-minute itch to buy in the final week of the holiday shopping season.
A few retailers opened stores on Thanksgiving for the last few years. This year, at least a dozen major retailers did so, with some opening earlier in the day. That led some analysts to question whether the Thanksgiving openings would take away sales on Black Friday.
Holidays sales numbers so far have been disappointing, but people appear to be ready for the post-Christmas bargains, and even the tourists know to wait if they want to save money.
