As the storm begins to hit the region around noon Sunday, precipitation will mostly be in the form of rain with a wintry mix north of New York City.

Street corners transformed into lane-wide lagoons are proving difficult to navigate after Wednesday’s icy snow.
“That’s the big gear that ushered in all the cold air. This was supposed to be more rain-snow mix but it’s cold enough so it’s more snow,” said CBS 2 meteorologist John Elliott.
Another storm bore down on the Tri-State area on Wednesday, bringing groans and the potential for as much as a foot of new snow to areas already buried by a winter that is on track to be the worst in years.
Getting around New York City after Tuesday morning’s sleet storm can be a full physical workout.
Some hospital emergency rooms are treating large numbers of elderly slip and fall patients.
