The NYC Citizens Lobbying Against Smoker Harassment said Tuesday it filed the papers in state Supreme Court.
The bill’s sponsors say allowing e-cigarettes in places where tobacco cigarettes are banned threatens “effective enforcement” of the smoking ban and sends the wrong message to children that smoking is safe.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Wednesday there are about 500,000 fewer smokers in the city than there were a decade ago and about 10,000 fewer deaths linked to smoking during that period.
