New lower speed limits — part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “Vision Zero” initiative aimed at curbing pedestrian deaths — will take effect on some major roadways Monday.
A group advocating to lower speed limits in New York City has posted signs along Prospect Park West in Brooklyn. The signs, however, look an awful lot like official speed limit signs.
There is a new push to reduce the speed limit from 30 to 20 mph on many residential streets, CBS 2’s Don Champion reported.
Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon said that he’s been consulting with traffic engineers and wants to introduce a bill that would increase the speed limits.
