Police on Wednesday were searching for the vandals who hit the Metropolitan Opera House, defacing several statues and paintings.
The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation has launched a new effort to restore statues with missing pieces to their former glory.
Nearly a dozen religious statues at two churches in Vineland, N.J. have been defaced.
Officials believe the vandalism occurred between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday outside St. Mary’s Church in Franklin Township.
Statues were covered in red paint, and the word “No” was painted on doors of various locations.
The statues of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the crucifix were found with “X”s painted on them at St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church.
