Bloomberg Opposes Teachers’ Pension Fund Move To Sell Gun Company Stock
Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a strong opponent of the gun industry and supporter of gun control, but he opposed a move by the teachers’ pension fund to sell its stock in companies that make guns and ammunition.
After Irene, New York Stock Exchange Will Open Monday
Operators of the historic Big Board and other major U.S. exchanges said they plan to open for trading as usual. Their announcements came after city officials said damage from Tropical Storm Irene wasn’t as severe as feared in New York’s financial district.
3-Day Rally Ends Thursday On Wall Street
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 170.89 points, or 1.5 percent, to close at 11,149.82. It had been up 85 points shortly after the opening bell.
