The shooting occurred Tuesday night in what police said is an especially gang-infested part of Mount Vernon — Third Street near Third Avenue.
The 15-year-old is still in pain, both physically and mentally, after she was shot through the hand last Sunday morning, while doing her homework inside her family’s apartment at the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City.
A 12-year-old and another man were caught in the cross fire as the result of a beef between a Crown Heights store employee and a man who lives in the neighborhood, police said.
“I heard one gunshot and it shattered the screen door, and then I started hearing a bunch of them and then it hit my leg,” the girl said. “I was screaming and stuff because it was really hurting. And my legs kept shaking.”
A Brooklyn man faces charges that he fired a stray bullet that smashed through a window and struck a boy as he watched cartoons.
