A man’s legs were severed by a subway train in the Bronx Saturday night, and another man was killed by a train in Manhattan Sunday morning – bringing the total number of subway-related deaths or injuries to seven in the past week.
Another person was struck and killed on a subway train Friday night, bringing the total number of subway accidents up to five for just this week.
Arnold Conoline Jr., the commission’s acting executive director, says the increased security will remain in effect through at least New Year’s Day. The agency also is considering some long-term measures that might help prevent suicides.
