Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Wednesday on the SUNY Purchase campus that $27,000 will be provided to university police departments to buy 258 naloxone kits.
Astorino said the aim is to create stronger bonds between the two sides since they would need to work together in the event of an active shooter situation at a school. But much of the focus was also on balancing efforts in mental health care with school violence prevention efforts.
The Safer Communities initiative will formally kick off on Feb. 27 at a school safety symposium at SUNY Purchase to bring the two sides together.
The Miss New York USA and Miss Teen New York USA competitions will be taking place at SUNY Purchase in 2012.
