Tappan Zee Constructors
The state is withholding $1 million a month from a contractor working on the new Tappan Zee Bridge project after a barge broke loose from the construction site Sunday — the third such incident since September.
The conditions were windy and choppy Sunday night when the construction barge broke from its mooring and began drifting south.
Six barges and tugboats carrying construction equipment are slated to arrive Monday.
The nearly $4 billion project is on schedule, but under the design-build approach, they’re still at work on the specifics, which was a letdown for some.
