The victim, 29-year-old Khendrai Williams, of East Orange, was struck and killed around 12:30 a.m. at McCarter Highway and Market Street, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Chief assistant Essex County prosecutor Thomas Fennelly said 14-year-old Abdul Frazier died early Friday after three weeks in a hospital.
Hanif Thompson, 29, of Irvington; Karif Ford, 31, of Newark; Basim Henry, 32, of Newark; and Kevin Roberts, 33, of Newark, face a series of charges, including murder.
Jennifer Sahoye, 35, was originally charged with causing death while driving with a suspended license in the Oct. 10 crash on Routes 1 & 9 in Newark. Further investigation revealed Sahoye was texting while driving at the time of the crash, Essex County prosecutors said.
