A special grand jury convened to investigate the shooting of an unarmed cab driver by an off-duty Nassau County police officer expired with no charges brought.
Officer Anthony DiLeonardo beat, shot and wounded cabbie Thomas Moroughan in Huntington Station two years ago during a roadside dispute, according to an internal affairs investigation.
Thomas Moroughan, 26, was arrested on February 27 in Huntington Station after the two Nassau County police officers said the cab driver confronted them and tried to run one of them over. He was planning to file a lawsuit.
Thomas Moroughan said after a court appearance Friday that he didn’t deserve to get shot following a dispute with two off-duty Nassau County police officers last weekend and was just doing his job.
