NYS Thruway Officials Announce Plan To ‘Beet’ Slick Roads This Winter

In addition to the usual rock salt to aid in ice melt and to help give drivers traction, the state will also begin using an anti-icing mix of sugar beet juice and brine to pretreat roadways.
