NHL’s Failures On Hits From Behind May Get Someone Killed

The NHL’s failure to suspend Marian Gaborik following his vicious hit that sent the Islanders’ Frans Nielsen into momentary darkness last week screams of the league’s clear lack of a stance on hits from behind.

Islanders Gillies Suspended 10 Games For Hit

The NHL has issued a 10 game suspension to Isles forward Trevor Gillies following an ejection in Wednesday’s game with Minnesota after a hit from behind on Wild winger Cal Clutterbuck.

Bettman: I Won’t Debate Lemieux Over Islanders

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has heard enough from Mario Lemieux over the league’s discipline of the Islanders stemming from last Friday’s fight-night. “We’re not going to engage in a public debate on this,” Bettman said.
