A group of prisoners at Rikers Island were released Wednesday so they could deliver 700 Thanksgiving meals to the needy in Manhattan.
Anna Gristina, the so-called “Upper East Side madam,” was sentenced Tuesday to six months in prison after pleading guilty to a single count of promoting prostitution, but got credit for time served.
Last year’s top zip code is also in the Tri-State Area: Alpine, N.J. (07620) – it was bumped to #2 on the list of most expensive zip codes.
Under the plan, the Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing on 1st Avenue and 25th Street would be converted into a city garage for garbage trucks, snow plows and street sweepers.
Blasting had been halted following an Aug. 21 incident that spewed debris, blew out windows and rattled some Upper East Siders’ nerves. All blasting projects for the subway project will now be subject to more scrutiny and protections, the MTA said.
