It’s a tight fit in the Callas home these days: two families sharing the same space. People from Astoria made room for victims of the storm — a displaced mother and her two children.
One of the places all volunteers will be put to work is St. Francis De Sales in the Rockaways. It is a distribution center where they have food and piles of clothing.
Volunteerism is being honored at a new 9/11 exhibit at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum.
As the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaches, more than a hundred non-profits have already registered for Westchester County’s Serve and Learn: Westchester Remembers 9/11 event on September 9.
