The Giants have a glaring need at linebacker. Outside of getting the best available player — which could well be Alec Ogletree, anyway — that’s where the concentration of the first two days needs to be.
“The entire time I wanted to return to the New York Giants, and fortunately they wanted me back,” Boothe said. “I’m happy to be back. It’s a great organization and a great team. I’m looking forward to this upcoming season.”
“If the Giants want to work something out, I am always up for listening, figuring out what I can do to help the cause,” Manning said.
“I’m glad I don’t have any of those free agency jitters to deal with,” Beatty said. “It’s settled, we’re done and we’re moving on.”
There is an obvious reason why the Giants went from a Super Bowl champion to a frustrated team that missed the playoffs. It’s consistency.
In some ways the rematch with the Washington Redskins turned out to be a reverse of their first meeting. The Giants will be looking hard in the mirror after this one, as they were penalized nine times for 73 yards.
Eli Manning threw for 249 yards, tossed three touchdowns and — most importantly — didn’t throw an interception.
Coach Tom Coughlin always reminds his team to “finish,” but they wasted a 20-10 lead by allowing two touchdown drives to lose this one.
The Giants’ best motivation of all? The fact that they played their ‘C’ game against the Cowboys in Week 1. Watch out, Dallas.
In the last three weeks, the New York Giants’ offensive line has played extremely well together — so well that there doesn’t seem to be room for veteran David Diehl to return to a starting role.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP has been sacked a league-low five times through the first six games of the season, and he’s been hit only 11 times — total.
We could go many places here – starting with Eli Manning, Victor Cruz Andre Brown. But we’ll stick with Nicks.
Tom Coughlin is concerned by the amount of injuries suffered by the Giants’ secondary.
With Will Beatty struggling because of back issues, Locklear is the projected starting left tackle for the Super Bowl champions. No one, though, is ready to say that he will be there when the season starts in two weeks.
The back problems that bothered the team at camp haven’t left, though, and the issue seems to be causing more concern.
