TALE OF THE TAPE

Sports

  1. North Carolina v Kansas VCU v Michigan
NCAA Tournament Round Of 16: #1 Kansas Vs. #4 Michigan

Bill Self always has Jayhawks fans rocking and chalking, absolutely annihilating Big 12 competition every year, but success hasn’t come as easy in the tournaments. Despite any criticism, nobody can ever take away his 2008 national title.

  2. ACC Basketball Tournament: Maryland v Duke Memphis v Michigan State
NCAA Tournament Round Of 16: #2 Duke Vs. #3 Michigan State

With four national championships, 11 Final Fours, two Olympic gold medals and a court named after him, Coach K’s legacy is as rock solid as a bomb shelter beneath the Pentagon.

NCAA Tournament Round Of 16: #1 Louisville Vs. #12 Oregon

Rick Pitino’s long and storied career is well documented, and if Louisville’s trip to the Final Four last year is any indication, the guy has still got it. In this business, there’s scarcely anyone better.

  4. Iowa State v Ohio State Harvard v Arizona
NCAA Tournament Round Of 16: #2 Ohio State Vs. #6 Arizona

Thad Matta is one of the more under-appreciated college coaches in Division I. Not only has he been to two Final Fours, but he has the Buckeyes in contention every year. The one year he missed the tourney? They won the NIT.

NCAA Tournament First Round: #4 Syracuse Vs. #13 Montana

This one is absolutely no contest. Jim Boeheim has reached three Final Fours and won a national championship (2003). He will bring his top-of-the-line acumen to the ACC next year, but for now, it’s to the big dance on behalf of the Big East.

  6. ACC Basketball Tournament: Maryland v Duke Albany Great Danes v Connecticut Huskies
NCAA Tournament First Round: #2 Duke Vs. #15 Albany

The Blue Devils suffered a tough loss in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, but they’re still led by Coach K who has 79 wins all-time in the tourney and has made 11 Final Fours.
