Quarterback
Mike Glennon is in for the toughest assignment of his career as he goes under center against the ferocious Seattle defense as they return home after Monday night’s road appearance against the St. Louis Rams. Glennon has some accuracy and seems to understand the offense, but they will be under the gun against Seattle’s ferocious pass defense.
Winner The Seahawks may be in a position to put on their best offensive show of the season in this game. Russell Wilson will likely have a chance to throw the ball downfield to explosive wideout Percy Harvin, and that should give the Seahawks much greater offensive consistency. Wilson has quick feet, excellent athleticism, a strong enough arm and leadership ability.
Offense
The Bucs have struggled all season and they are not likely to turn things around without Doug Martin, who could be out another two weeks or longer because of his shoulder injury. Mike James is a decent backup but he lacks special qualities. Vincent Jackson has the talent to make big plays, but he can’t do it by himself. Mike Williams is a decent receiver, but he is not a downfield threat.
Winner Running back Marshawn Lynch is one of the most physical backs in the league. His punishing running style weakens opposing defenses and leaves them vulnerable in the second half. Harvin is a special talent who will give the Seahawks a different dimension because of his quickness and run-after-the-catch ability. Golden Tate has power and good hands at the wide receiver position.
Defense
The Bucs have performed much better on the defensive side of the ball than they have on offense, but they have been troubled by big mistakes at key moments. Tampa Bay ranks 14th overall on defense, and their best player is linebacker Lavonte David, who leads the team with 60 tackles and also has 5.0 sacks. Strong safety Mark Barron has 44 tackles and three passes defensed.
Winner The Seahawks rank second overall on defense and they do it with excellent depth on their front seven and special skill in the secondary. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner is probably the best tackler on the team and he returned from an ankle injury in the Seahawks’ Monday night win over the Rams. Cornerback Richard Sherman may be the best cover man in the NFL.
Special Teams
The Bucs work hard and do a decent job in punt and kickoff coverage, but they are not much of a threat to get big plays on their own returns. Rian Lindell is a good but not great kicker who has made 10-of-12 FG attempts. Michael Koenen is a solid directional punter.
Winner The Seahawks are not going to give up big plays on special teams and kick returner Jermaine Kearse has the speed to break long plays. Steven Hauschka is a dependable kicker who almost never misses. Jon Ryan is a solid directional punter.

Winner Seattle Seahawks
4 out of 4

The Seahawks have one of the best teams in the league and they take pride in their ability to dominate at home. Look for the Bucs to take a big-time beating in this game.

Tale Of The Tape: Arizona Cardinals At San Francisco 49ers

It’s a good thing the Cardinals have their playoff berth locked up, because the offense has lost its drive after losing quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton to injuries.

Tale Of The Tape: Oakland Raiders At Denver Broncos

The Raiders have certainly shown some life in the second half of the season, and while it most likely won’t be enough to help Tony Sparano shed the interim label and become the full-time head coach, he does deserve credit for not letting this team give up.

Tale Of The Tape: St. Louis Rams At Seattle Seahawks

The Rams offense functioned at a much higher level in their Week 16 loss to the Giants with Shaun Hill at quarterback, and he is coming off a confidence-boosting 24-of-32 game for 290 yards with 2 TDs and 1 interception.
