As if you needed an excuse to turn your Tuesday into a booze-day, it’s National Tequila Day. Here’s a look at six of our favorite tequila tainted cocktails in New York City. From margaritas to snow cones, each drink is worth celebrating.

Available in Zengo’s dining room or the sultry lower-level library, La Biblioteca, these tequila-spiked frozen treats are a perfect antidote to the summer heat. Flavors include tamarind, hibiscus and strawberry. The fruits are pureed into a syrup and poured over shaved ice before an ounce of tequila is added.

This spicy summer refresher is one of our favorite new cocktails for the season. Watermelon evokes memories of cookouts and picnics, and The Sun-Dia by Alex Valencia punches it up with a dose of Latin flavors. He blends Herradura blanco tequila, elderflower liqueur, jalapeño infused Cointreau, watermelon, and lime, and serves it on the rocks.
The Beetnik, Saxon & Parole

We like this one for it’s “health” value. Seriously. Despite their sweetness, beets are low in calories and high in nutritional value, carrying folates, fiber, and vitamin C. The Beetnik combines all of the benefits of fresh beets with the deliciousness of Corralejo reposado tequila, Ilegal mezcal, vanilla, and ginger.
Blueberry-Hibiscus Margarita

At Chef Sue Torres’ Suenos, you can enjoy several fruit-flavored margaritas. Our favorite, the Blueberry-Hibiscus Margarita, seems just the thing for celebrating a day created to honor this drink. You’ll taste a combination of Herradura reposado tequila, Cointreau, blueberry puree, hibiscus, and fresh lime juice. A deliciously fruity and floral variation that goes down like silk.
