You may want to pick the obvious choice (the dumplings) at Vanessa's Dumplings, but their sesame pancake sandwiches are not to be missed. A plain one will only cost you $1.25, while the most expensive (grilled salmon) will only set you back $4.99. Favorites include the Peking Duck with scallions and cucumber and their Roasted Pork. Each bite of this crunchy yet chewy sandwich is delicious – it can be a bit greasy, but isn't that the point? See their website for more locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Malaysian Beef Jerky

95A Elizabeth St.
New York, NY

Beef jerky lovers should make their way to Elizabeth Street. The folks over at Malaysian Beef Jerky have been making authentic Singapore-Malaysia style jerky every day for years. They've got everything from traditional beef, chicken, and pork jerky, to more acquired flavors, like shrimp-flavored pork jerky. We hope you're hungry because you order by the half pound. Each one is glazed perfectly and if you order online, they're shipped in vacuumed wrappers and marked with an expiration date. This is definitely not your typical Slim Jim.

The Greek yogurt craze hasn't gone anywhere thanks to Chobani's standalone store in Soho. This quick, on-the-go shop is perfect for the busy New Yorker. Get your protein fix with unique yogurt creations (ranging from sweet to savory). Feel like a kid again with the Peanut Butter & Jelly option – creamy peanut butter, fresh red grapes, Concord grape jelly and roasted peanuts. The Pistachio + Chocolate flavor is especially refreshing, thanks to the addition of fresh mint, sliced oranges and clover honey. If you're in the mood for something savory, the Red Pepper Harissa + Feta combination is divine – red pepper harissa, feta cheese, fresh mint, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, black pepper -- served up with simit chips. Plus, there's always their seasonal creations, too. Grab a half size ($5.50) or full size ($6.40) and take home your glass bowl.

Exploring Downtown Manhattan: Eat, See And Play

Everyone knows that the perfect snack is popcorn! Head over to Pop Karma on the Lower East Side and try out a variety of flavors that are anything but classic. Nosh on Zen Cheddar (simply made with pure white cheddar), Pure Caramel, or the All American - buttered and salted, just like movie theater popcorn. If you're up for trying something with a kick, definitely order the Spanish Barbecue flavor or the White Truffle Cheddar. Make sure to stop in throughout the year to find seasonal flavors on the menu. Past favorites include margarita (coconut and lime), Kyoto Mix (miso and seaweed), Bacon Apple Bourbon Caramel, and Pumpkin Spice Caramel. It's time to start snacking!

It's easy to eat your vegetables when elote is on the menu. This Mexican-style grilled corn on the cob is a specialty at Café Habana and it's hard to resist, thanks to its mouth-watering ingredients: grilled corn with mayonnaise, cotija cheese, chili powder, and lime. Feel free to pair this with one of their equally-delicious side dishes, like their Tostones (green plantains fried and served with garlic mayo) or Sweet Plantains. If you're really in a hurry, you can pick one up at Habana-To-Go on Elizabeth Street.
