Best Upcoming College Productions In New York City

One of the great things about NYC is that there are so many various entertainment options. If you like jazz, there's a jazz club in the city playing your beat. If you like comedy, check out one of the many comedy shows that'll have you laughing all night. If you like live theater, choose from a Broadway show, an off-Broadway show or a college production at one of the numerous schools in the city. Here are five upcoming NYC college productions for the theater lover.

Get ready for some fun with Hunter College's "Performance of B-Horror Show." Brought to you by the Hunter Theatre Company, Hunter students will entertain you with live performances of b-horror movies, written by the students themselves. A NYU/StudentWorks Production, "Carrie the Musical" is based on a book by Lawrence D. Cohen. Prepare to get lost in the world of a teenage girl with telekinetic powers and her fanatic religious mother. Suddenly, a traumatic life event causes Carrie to create chaos wherever she goes. "Tony Kushner's 'Angels in America: Part I - Millennium Approaches'" follows the stories of a homosexual couple dealing with the diagnosis of AIDS, a mormon attorney and his drug-addicted wife and the attorney's conservative boss. The Juilliard Drama Group 44 (fourth-year actors) will be starring in the production. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for students. "The Seagull" is the first of four plays by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. The play focuses on artistic ambition and romantic conflicts between four main characters. Get ready for a philosophical whirlwind play by American playwright and novelist Thornton Wilder. "The Skin of Our Teeth" follows Mr. and Mrs. Antrobus, who have been married for 5,000 years, and their family as they encounter the Depression, the Ice Age, war and much more. Tickets cost $15 for the general public, $10 for Fordham faculty, alumni and staff and $5 for any students and senior citizens.
