Ono's unofficial MoMa debut took place in 1971, when the artist advertised a one woman show of her own making, via a sign hung outside the museum, informing visitors that she had released flies outside the door and inviting them to track the insects throughout the city. In this current exhibit, the museum's curators analyze the decade prior to Ono's unauthorized exhibit. Over 125 objects will be on display, including Ono's early installations, works on paper and performance art.
