THE DEFENSE
Q: What's your name, and where are we today and what brought you out? In that order.
A: Sure! I'm here at the corner of Lennox and 119th Street.
Q: I said in order please! Name first.
A: Uhmmmm, my name is Shaun and I'm here in the heart of beautiful and historic Harlem. I'm helping a friend move into his new apartment. Look at these unbelievable buildings. Harlem rules!
Q: Very nice of you. Can you give me the basics of your beautiful ride?
A: Well, it's actually my sister's. I'm just borrowing it for the move, but I'm happy and confident to defend it. This is a beautiful 2010 Ford Escape with about 12,000 miles on it.
Q: What's the zip code where you live?
A: I live in Chelsea and 10011 is the zippidy zip zip.
Q: Do you know where she bought the vehicle?
A: I think she got it at Dana Motors out on Staten Island. She lives right by that dealer, so I'm pretty sure that's the place.
Q: What's the main use for your car?
A: When she's nice enough to loan it to me, I use it to drive my band to practices and to gigs all over the East Coast.
Q: How much time do you spend in it?
A: When we're touring, we sleep in it, sell CD's and t-shirts out of it. We basically spend all day and night in it. It's a Ford Escape and we took that title literally. We love New York, but sometimes you gotta escape from New York.
Q: What's your favorite day trip?
A: My favorite daytrip would have to be out to Coney Island. I feel at home with the freaks. We filmed a music video for one of our songs there and were able to fit the whole band, the film crew, and all of our equipment in the Ford Escape. We had a no hotdog rule for the benefit of the ride home.
Q: Where's the furthest place you've driven to?
A: On one of our tours we went down to Richmond, Virgina. Hello Richmond!
Q: Do you have any rules in your car?
A: Have a good time. All the time. But seriously, no smoking and no drinking. We're serious about getting to our gigs on time and in one piece.
Q: What do you listen to in your car?
A: Ah man, everything. Little bit of the Beatles, Queens of the Stoneage, Mudhoney, and of our course, Kung Fury.
Q: If your car had a theme song, what would it be?
A: Baby you can drive my car…yeah…"Drive My Car" by the Beatles would be its theme song for sure.
Q: If your car had a human emotion, what would it be?
A: Fearless Fury with a daily dose of P.M.A. [Pretty Much Amazing].
Q: How did you get your car?
A: I borrowed it from my wonderful sister.
Q: Did you buy it?
A: Yeah, I bought it for her along with a diamond dog for my other sister. Come on, man, I'm a musician living in New York. I'm about to ask you for some gas money and a subway card home after that.
Q: What's your favorite feature?
A: Definitely the sunroof, or the moon-roof, depends on when you catch me driving by. Check it out. This sunroof makes my whole day sunny.
Q: What would your dream car be?
A: For me? Probably a BMW motorcycle or an old Indian or Harley. Born to be wild baby!
Q: Any final words for Defend Your Ride?
A: I defend this ride in the name of Kung Fury. Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage!
