If there's anything we've learned from "Game Of Thrones," Stephen Colbert's elvish infatuations and the 387 super hero movies that have busted the block over the last few years, it's that nerdy is the new cool.

And while we've known since we were little that few things are dorkier than our grandparents' pasttimes, Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club has shown us that maybe old folks knew what was up all along. Officially one-day-old today, Gowanus' newest addition merges hipster culture with hip replacement culture, creating an ode to Florida that will warm you up even when the temperatures outside stay ridiculously low.

Obviously the name of the game – literally and figuratively – is shuffleboard, and with 10 regulation size courts available for rent or league play, the novice and experienced shuffleboarders among us will have room for improvement, but – like the revamped bowling alleys before it – RPSC aims to be a nightlife destination even if physical activity isn't your thing.

Live tiki bands, canvas cabanas, DJs and a daily rotation of indoor food trucks will have you feeling hot hot hot all year long (as will flamingo wallpaper, old-timey Florida souvenirs and a resort-wear-clad staff), so cool down with a rum punch, pina colada or one of eight craft beers on tap.

Kitschy in the most glorious way possible, the Royal Palms is perfect for a date, a party, or simply paying homage to your suddenly kick-ass grandparents.
