Before summer ends and temperatures cool down, why not get out of the hot kitchen and relax outside? CBS New York helps by sharing some of the best family-friendly outdoor restaurants.

First Oasis Restaurant

9218 4th Avenue
Brooklyn, New York 11209
(718) 238-4505

With an unassuming exterior, this neighborhood gem offers up some great food at even greater prices. The staff is warm and accommodating, and they have a quaint garden out back. There are many options that even the little ones will find enticing. Try the hummus or baba gannouj ($4.95), the chicken kebabs ($5) or the lamb kebabs ($5.50).

Marina Cafe

154 Mansion Avenue
Staten Island, NY 10308
(718) 967-3077

Overlooking the Great Kills Harbor, this restaurant will sweep you away with its amazing views. During the summer months, it is a must to visit their Dockside Patio Bar, which offers a more casual fare than the main café. They have great seafood and a raw bar, but also offer great burgers, sandwiches and a kid’s menu. Try the crab cakes ($14) or the linguine with clams ($17).

Shake Shack

11 Madison Ave
(Madison Square Park, S. E. Corner)
New York, NY10010
(212) 889-6600

Nestled in Madison Square Park, near 23rd Street and Madison, is Danny Meyer’s burger oasis. Arguably the best burger in town, Shake Shack offers up some mighty good grub that leaves everyone satisfied. Sit under the trees, surrounded by various art installations, and enjoy every morsel. And don’t forget to stop by the playground on your way out to burn off the sugar from the addictive shakes. The single burgers ($3.75) are the perfect size for kids, for vegetarians try the shroom burger ($6.75) and don’t forget the yummy, hand-spun shake ($5.25).

The Frying Pan

Pier 66, 26th Street and Westside Highway
New York, NY 10002
(212) 989-6363

Perched on the Hudson River, this salvaged lightship offers an escape from the city while serving up good food. In the evening hours, after 8pm, it becomes a watering hole, but for lunch or an early dinner it is a great place for the whole family to enjoy a meal and some of the best views the city can offer. Try the sirloin burger ($9.23), the lemon-herbed chicken breast wrap ($9.23) and the garlic fries are a must ($3.69).

City Island Lobster House

691 Bridge Street
Bronx, NY 10464
(718) 885-1459

City Island Lobster House lives up to its name offering some great lobster and seafood dishes. They also take care of their non-sea fare customers by having plenty of other beef and chicken options. Grab a seat on their outdoor terrace that overlooks the Long Island Sound and enjoy a delightful meal. Just remember to take an extra bib for the adults. Try the Steamed Lobster (MP) or the Shrimp Scampi.
