Can’t get to the orchard this year? Head to Atlantic Avenue and try Colonie’s Green Apple Whiskey Sour (Michter’s rye whiskey, fresh green apple juice, lemon, sugar, baked apple, egg white, bitters and cinnamon) to satisfy that fresh apple craving. Drinks at Colonie are juiced to order, so you know you’re getting that farmer’s market taste.

Switchel, another name for sipping vinegar, is given the apple treatment at Peels (dark rum, apple cider, apple cider vinegar, ginger and molasses). Rich and tart with an underlying sweetness, this tipple will remind you of a baked apple. Peels also features another apple cocktail on its fall menu, the crisp Jin Applet (gin, fresh-pressed apple juice, cinnamon and lime juice).

Leblon Cachaca gets spiced up for the season in the Lower East Cider, featuring pear eau de vie, lemon juice and spiced agave nectar (vanilla, cloves, cardamom, star anise, nutmeg, cinnamon and white pepper) topped with apple cider. The tall tipple lives up to its name and could easily serve as the neighborhood’s punch for the season.

Created by Brian Block, head bartender at Aldea, the Harvester (Calvados Apple Brandy, chai tea-infused sweet vermouth, Fee Brothers Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned Bitters and apple cider foam) is a frothy autumnal treat. Apple brandy and chai tea-infused vermouth seem made for each other, while the apple cider foam, borrowing a technique from the kitchen, offers a tart garnish.

Two of beverage director Somer Perez’s favorite things combine to make the Bourbon ‘n Apples at Perilla (bourbon, apple cider and bitters, garnished with a dehydrated apple chip). Bold bourbon is tamed by the sweet cider, while smoky bitters add depth to this simple yet crowd-pleasing cocktail.
