The beer cocktail trend isn’t going anywhere, as NYC bartenders continue to add malted ingredients to their mixology. Here are some of the best cocktails featuring a splash of brew this fall season. By Selena Ricks-Good.
The Sudsy Buccaneer at The Tippler
425 W. 15th St.
New York, NY 10011
Head to this sprawling lounge under the iconic Chelsea Market for crafty cocktails designed by The Tippling Brothers, Paul Tanguay and Tad Carducci. Standouts include The Sudsy Buccaneer featuring Blanco tequila, pineapple puree, lime juice, green chile hot sauce, Mexican spiced syrup and a Negra Modelo float. The dark amber lager balances with the tang of the pineapple and spice of the chiles to create one refreshing, effervescent drink.
Beggar’s Banquet at The Breslin
16 W. 29th St.
New York, NY
The Breslin also has a small selection of beer cocktails to keep its Ace Hotel guests buzzing. For a taste of fall, sip the Beggar’s Banquet, featuring bourbon, maple syrup, lemon juice, aromatic bitters and topped with ale. For a hearty take on the Bloody Mary, try the Bitches Brew (mezcal, tomato juice, lime juice, spices and Tecate beer). As an added bonus, The Breslin offers the remainder of the can of Tecate with the drink so you can continue adding it to the spicy concoction or slurp it as a chaser.
Mi Michelada at Colonie
127 Atlantic Ave.
Brooklyn, NY 11201
The michelada, a classic Mexican beer cocktail, gets the foodie treatment at Colonie in Brooklyn Heights. Sixpoint Crisp Lager, lime juice, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and Clamato combine to make one savory brunch libation.
