Here's how it works: you get as many cuts and slabs as you like, paying by the pound for the privilege. Among your many options are hot link sausage, boneless prime rib, lean brisket, pulled pork, bone-in short rib, market chicken, turkey breast, and lots more -- all wood-smoked, Central Texas-style, and hand carved. We're pretty bonkers about the sides too, including smokey chipotle deviled eggs, skillet cornbread, and longhorn cheddar mac and cheese. You'll keep going until your belly says "stop." Not to worry: there are paper towels on every table.

The slogan of IchiUmi could go as follows: come for the all-you-can-eat sashimi and sushi -- stay for the dessert. Yup, you read that right: this temple to fresh fish in Koreatown plays a mean sweets game, offering such treats as hami melon, strawberry Jello, and blueberry cheesecake. As one of the largest all-you-can-eat seafood buffets and sushi restaurants in the five boroughs, IchiUmi offers something for everyone, quite literally in fact. You can start with cold dishes like sea snail and beef tataki, then move on to udon and ramen, then sample several varieties of oysters and clams, nibble on some crab meat or lobster salad, then gobble grilled porgy, codfish roe, and Korean-style rice noodles.

Vatan

409 Third Avenue
New York, NY 10010
(212) 689-5666

Specializing in the scrumptious cuisine of Gujarat, India, Vatan is kosher, and can easily accommodate vegans and those wishing to eat gluten-free as well. Rather than limiting the kitchen, these boundaries somehow seem to free it, and you'll be treated to three courses of inventive, innovative fare, including mirchi bhajia (fried hot peppers with garam masala), toor dal (boiled lentils with spices), and batata wada (potato fritters.) The décor resembles a traditional Indian courtyard (ask for a table beneath the banyan for extra ambiance) while the servers wear saris and kurtas. Be prepared to remove your shoes and stay a while.
