4 Fun Ways To Celebrate Earth Day In New York City

New York City might be the concrete jungle, but that doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of opportunities to give back and go green. Each year, the world comes together to learn new and innovative ways to keep our planet green through fun activities for all ages -- and the Big Apple is no exception. Three days of Earth Day celebrations will take place at Grand Central Terminal and Union Square -- both venues boast long histories with the movement. On April 22 head over to Union Square for live performances, kids activities, sustainability talks, a green-vehicle runway exhibition, as well as local business booths and art displays by environmental organizations. At Grand Central on April 23 & 24 you can find exhibits by partner organizations at East 43rd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. All of the events are free and open to the public.

NYC Green Festival

The large-scale eco-fun event happening on April 26 & 27 at Pier 94 is the biggest sustainability event in New York. With international, regional and local speakers, fun workshops, exciting exhibits, vegan and vegetarian cooking demos, educational activities for kids and families, and live music and entertainment there really is something for everyone. Plus, you can shop in the unique marketplace of more than 300 eco-friendly businesses. Check out booths featuring all-natural body care products and organic clothing, Fair Trade gifts, beautiful home renovations made from renewable resources, as well as vegan and vegetarian offerings based on organic, non-GMO or local, artisanal foods.

Going green is a lifestyle – and it includes dressing green. Both men and women can be fashionable and friendly to the environment at the same time.
