Celebrate Pie

Date: Monday, December 1

This Monday is the first day of December but more importantly it's National Pie Day! Celebrate this delicious holiday by heading over to Buttercup Bake Shop on 2nd Ave to try one of their classic or seasonal pies. Buttercup's pie menu features stables like apple and pecan. But try the gingersnap lime if you're feeling adventurous - a key lime pie with a crumbled gingersnap cookie crust. Patrons have their choice of a 6" mini pie for $8 or a 9" pie for $24. Buttercup Bake Shop is open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:oo p.m. on Mondays.

Date: Wednesday, December 3

R&B singer Jhene Aiko will be taking the stage at the Best Buy Theatre on Broadway and West 44th Street this Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Aiko began her career in music as a contributing vocalist for B2K and in the last few years has collaborated with industry giants like Childish Gambino, Drake and Kanye West. Her 2013 EP, Sail Out, peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 Chart with the lead single "The Worst," climbing to number four on the U.S. Adult R&B Songs Billboard Chart. Tickets are going for $62 and up online.

Hit The Ice

Date: Thursday, December 4

It isn't technically winter yet in the Big Apple, but that shouldn't stop you from having some icy fun this week! Hit up Trump Rink in Central Park for the classic New York City ice skating experience. The rink offers public skating from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursdays with brief intermissions for ice resurfacing at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (or as needed based on weather conditions). Seniors skate for $5, children under 12 cost $6 and adults are $11.25. For more information on other daily sessions visit their official website.

Take In A Show

Date: Friday, December 5

Take in a show this Friday at the Longacre Theatre on W. 48th Street as they perform George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's You Can't Take It With You. You Can't Take It With You was originally performed in 1936 and was later adapted for the big screen where it garnered Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. The play is a comedy telling the story of the Sycamores, a family sharing a large but wacky house in New York City. The cast is headlined by names like James Earl Jones, Rose Bryne and Elizabeth Ashley. Tickets are available online now starting at $69 for balcony level seating.

Have Some Free Family Fun

Date: Sunday, December 7

Let your kids exercise their minds this Sunday by taking them to the Brooklyn Children's Museum on Brooklyn Avenue to check out their permanent collection of over 30,000 items called "Collections Central." Items in the collection include ancient man-made objects, fossilized bones, preserved insects and ceremonial masks. Families who visit the museum can take place in hands on activities like sketch drawing, stringing beads to make jewelry and even piloting a small boat without ever leaving the museum. The Brooklyn Children's Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays and admission is $9 per person.
