You're in for a treat tonight because the Meatpacking Summer Series welcomes the talented folks from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater to the Gansevoort Plaza. This improv show will consist of interconnected scenes, characters, and ideas that are completely made up on the spot with no pre-planning or pre-writing. Celebrate poet and writer Dorothy Parker and Dorothy Parker American Gin tonight at The Shanty, the cozy pub attached to the New York Distilling Company. At this shindig you can get a signed copy of Under the Table: A Dorothy Parker Cocktail Guide and a special cocktail together. There will be specials, samples of the spirits they distill at the Brooklyn operation, and you can even read your favorite Parker poem out loud. The fun begins at 6 p.m.

If you're one of the lucky 40 people to attend this month's The Kevin Corrigan Show at Over the Eight, make sure to bring a camera. Tonight's lineup is pretty epic with Damien Echols, Chuck Klosterman, and Sarah Silverman headlining the show. As usual, the one and only Kevin Corrigan will host tonight's event. Tickets are free and will be issued at the venue the day of the show (hint, get there early!). Show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Armed with just two flashlights, Nelson Lugo, Emma McMullin, Aaron Wolfe, and Erin Barker will hit the stage to share ghostly stories about the paranormal. Warning: you might walk away with a few less fingernails. But hey, that's nothing a manicure can't cure. Event begins at 7 p.m. and admission is $8.
