A Farmer’s Struggle and Yak Dung
Head over to the Asia Society tonight to watch two extraordinary films about farming and fertilization in China. First watch the 30-minute film, A Farmer’s Struggle, directed by Zhao Liang. Watch as an aging farmer and his wife defend their home and land as their local fishing village shrinks to oblivion. Next, watch Yak Dung, the fascinating Tibetan film about nomadic families on the Tibetan Plateau. Watch as they use yak dung as a renewable energy source for staying warm as well as a medicinal ingredient, as a way to build homes and fences, as well as a detergent. Director Lanzhe is a first time filmmaker who makes a powerful impact with this enticing documentary. Learn more tonight starting at 6:30 p.m.

You won’t want to miss seeing the newest rendition of Macbeth. Mara Gannon, Sarah Moore, Dan Morrison, Giverny Petitmermet, and Eric Powell Holm star in The Witches. Watch this new twist in the classic Shakespearean tale tonight at Macbeth finds himself in hell, and as a punishment for his wrong-doings, the three Witches play every character in the Macbeth tragic tale, forcing him to relive his story over and over again. Tickets are $18 and show starts at 8 p.m.
Family Drumming: West African Drum and Dance

Looking for something fun to do with the whole family? Head over to Inwood Hill Park and join a drum circle. Learn the traditional drumming and dancing unique to West Africa. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before, now’s the perfect time to try. Event goes from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Flicks on the Beach: Gravity

Hooray! Flicks on the Beach is back at Coney Island. Grab your blankets and beach chairs because tonight, Sandra Bullock will take you on a journey through space in the movie Gravity. Watch as she works alongside George Clooney to try and get back down to earth after surviving a disaster that’s left them adrift in orbit. Movie starts at dusk with free entertainment beginning at 7:30 p.m.
