You gotta love a book launch party where you get to listen to real 78 records. That’s exactly what’s happening tonight at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Author Amanda Petrusich will host a listening party to celebrate the release of her new book, Do Not Sell at Any Price – The Wild, Obsessive Hunt for the World’s Rarest 78rpm Records. She’ll share stories from junk-shops, attics, and libraries, where soulful music addicts hunt for often one-of-a-kind records. Music researcher, record producer, and writer Ian Nagoski will also join her in conversation during tonight’s event, which starts at 6:30 p.m.

Bring the family to Pier 45 at Hudson River Park to watch a free screening of Ghostbuster II. Taking place 5 years after the first blockbuster film, we find our favorite ‘busters in hard times. A restraining order has forbidden the boys to partake in paranormal warfare, and as a result, they have had to seek other lines of work…that is until a massive river of ectoplasm is discovered, and the paranormal activity rises. Ghostbusters to the rescue! Grab some popcorn because screening starts at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.).

Known for creating hilarious sketch shows based on wacky online material, you can only imagine what the actors will bring to the stage tonight.
