Cops: Angry Boyfriend Attacks NYC Man With Acid

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 29-year-old man is recovering from serious burns after being attacked with acid on the Upper East Side.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Friday morning.

Authorities said the victim had gone to 354 East 78th St. on Thursday night to see a woman he met online. At around 6:20 a.m., the woman's boyfriend arrived home and found the pair together.

The woman's displeased boyfriend splashed the 29-year-old with hydrochloric acid, police said.

1010 WINS' Al Jones reports the victim suffered severe acid burns to his head, face, neck and chest.

Jason Catlin saw the aftermath of the alleged attack and said the victim was in a lot of pain.

"We saw a gentleman up against the wall being hosed down by the FDNY," Catlin told Jones.  "Apparently he had acid all over him that was eating through his skin."

Police said they are still looking for the the 37-year-old suspect, who fled the scene.
