Wyclef For President? Rapper Looks To Run In Haiti
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Musician Wyclef Jean has a new title: Presidential candidate.
The 37-year-old rapper is running for president of Haiti. He arrived in Port Au Prince on Thursday, where he submitted his paperwork with the election commission.
Afterward, he bodysurfed on the hands of supporters.
Wyclef was born in Haiti and moved to Brooklyn at nine years old.
He gained fame in the nineties as a member of the hip hop group the Fugees. He now performs as a solo artist.
Turns out the election may be a family affair. Wyclef's uncle, a former Haiti ambassador, has decided to run as well.
