It's Fashion Week In New York City!

New York, NY - By Alison McLaughlin for CBS NewYork.com- On September 9th, 2010 a new era unfolds in New York's storied style history. After 18 years the iconic Bryant Park tents that came to define Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week have been packed up and moved uptown to the event's sophisticated new headquarters at Lincoln Center.

They're bigger too; over 100,000 fashionistas are expected to descend on New York and Lincoln Center had been re-vamped and dolled up to welcome them. New runways, video screens and venue spaces have been installed to host the seven days that set the trends for the season to come.

The largest area, "The Theater" boasts a capacity of around 1000 and promises a less cramped dressing room than it's Bryant Park predecessor - an innovation that will be sure to ease typical backstage frazzle.

"The Stage", Fashion Week's secondary presentation zone, provides (cushioned) stadium seating for 750 attendees, a logistical gesture that will offer even the lowest blogger on the fashion totem pole a million dollar view of the runway.

For emerging designers showcasing their wares "The Studio", a smaller presentation chamber with a 70 foot runway has also been added and can house approximately 350 invited guests.

An aptly named 50' x 50' room called "The Box" has been designated for all-purpose reception with a freshly painted black floor – presumably to mask the wayward sloshing of an open bar. Another eagerly anticipated modernization is the use of Fashion GPS – the new electronic check in system that also serves to manage "look books" (examples of a collection) tracks R.S.V.P's and attendance and streamlines the seating process.

Kicking off the whole event was the Fashion's Night Out runway show on September 7th. The largest fashion event ever produced in New York is the brain child of Vogue Magazine's editor in chief Anna Wintour and featured 150 top models sporting garments from couture to chain stores. Fashion's Night Out is September 10th and stores all over the 5 boroughs are hosting events and promotions until 11pm.

Fashion's Night Out was truly epic. The evening was hosted by fashion icon (and "Vogue" editor-at-large) Andre Leon Talley and took place in New York's Lincoln Center. Over 200 models took to the runway to deliver the season's hottest new styles, designers and tastemakers of New York's fashion scene. After you watch the webcast, be sure to tune in for the behind-the-scenes television special on CBS hosted by Neil Patrick Harris on September 14 at 10pm ET.
