Schneiderman Wins Primary For Attorney General
NEW YORK (AP) -- State Sen. Eric Schneiderman has won the Democratic nomination for attorney general in a close race with Nassau County prosecutor Kathleen Rice.
With 90-percent of precincts reporting unofficial results, Schneiderman's gains in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx put him ahead by 17,000 votes. In a field of five, he has 34 percent of the vote, compared with 31 percent for Rice.
Retired trial attorney Sean Coffey, former insurance superintendent Eric Dinallo and Assemblyman Richard Brodsky are trailing. All three conceded.
Dinallo and Brodsky say they will support tonight's winner, who will face Republican prosecutor Dan Donovan of Staten Island.
