YORKTOWN, N.Y. (CBS 2 / WCBS 880) — Police in Yorktown are investigating what appears to be the town’s first murder in more than 15 years.

The body of Piotr Seweryn, 43, was found in the basement of his home on Poplar Street Wednesday afternoon.

Seweryn’s wife, Kyrstyna, made the discovery. Police said the man had been shot to death and it did not appear to be a suicide.
