B&C Show Blog & Audio: Jerry Takes Exception

Bobby Dwyer

When today's Edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza got underway just after 6 o'clock, the Blonde Bomber got things started by reading a list of last night's winners and losers that he came up with during his extensive Show prep.  Topping the list of winners were the Yankees, because they won again and extended their lead over the Rays to 2.5 games and himself and Craig, because their TGFTY (Thank God for the Yankees) bracelets went on sale today (all of the proceeds will go to charity) and Jerry Manuel for calling out Joe Torre for comments he made regarding the Mets managerial position.  Torre has since apologized.  As for the losers, well there were two obvious choices, Torre for showing his true colors and Braylon Edwards for getting behind the wheel of his Range Rover after consuming numerous alcoholic beverages following a charity even thrown by his teammate.  So plenty to talk about there and we also got a detailed description of Craig's Tuesday night in the Bronx as he attended last night's Rays-Yankees game…

Plus, Craig's fudge and an update from Jerry 'Rello' Recco, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.com talks about the Braylon Edwards fallout, grabbing the junk, 'the' Eddie Scozzare performs his own version of 'Tears of a Clown', we learn that hot Laura knows a lot more about sports than Cliff, John Flaherty and Al Leiter talk some baseball, Island Def Jam's very own Ne-Yo comes in to sing Happy Birthday to Al 'Hughes' Dukes, Jerry's Moment of the Day and an 'Attention Grabber' from Philly that may or not be surgically enhanced…

We heard from Jerry in Brooklyn early on this morning and Craig assured him that he will have his crumb cakes for him on Friday.  Boomer warned Jerry that he'd better be careful because Craig's baking skills aren't that of his radio hosting skills.  He once made fudge that could have been considered a weapon in many states.  Then we heard from our Jerry, Jerry 'Rello/Rico' Recco and his first update of the day…

With all of the fallout from the Braylon Edwards arrest early yesterday morning, there are a lot of questions surrounding what, if anything, the Jets and the NFL can do to discipline him.  With that in mind, Al gave Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.com a call and he joined the guys to break it all down…

An interesting story involving Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack and what he deemed to be unacceptable behavior during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Mack accused Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith of grabbing his genitals, or junk as Craig often refers to them as, during a play during the second quarter.  Considering Boomer played in the NFL for 14 years, Craig asked him if this kind of behavior was the norm.  Boomer said it was not and then he informed us that he never wore an athletic supporter, or a cup if you will, while playing.  This fascinated both Craig and Jerry, in fact Jerry told us he will be wearing an athletic supporter later on today when he attends his 'grappling class', whatever the hell that is.  During this segment, Jerry acquired yet another nickname courtesy of Al, because of his bright yellow shirt (pictured above) that Jerry wore at the encouragement of the upper brass here at the FAN…

Craig had a special guest planned for the 9 o'clock hour and said guest is a singer, so Eddie took a page out of Al's book and wrote a parody song for the special guest to sing, or so he thought.  Craig thought it would be a good idea for Eddie to sing it first, so he did…

Then it was time for the wildly popular trivia contest we call, 'Do You Know More Sports Than…'  Today we had the lovely Laura and her impressive figure into the studio and she went against Cliff, who would have been better off not getting out of bed this morning because Laura had sports knowledge to go along with her large chest, quite a combination.  Craig tried to set her up with Al, but unfortunately she showed little interest in the 'Birthday Boy' who turned 41 today…

For Boomer's money John Flaherty is the best baseball analyst in the business and it's hard to disagree.  Flaherty does a great job on the YES Network analyzing the Yankees and today he joined Boomer and Craig to spread some of his analytical skills.  Flaherty was a catcher during his playing days in the Big Leagues, but while playing little league he was a pretty big deal as a pitcher.  How big of a deal you ask???  How about throwing eight no-hitters in one season kind of big deal!!!!

Keeping the baseball analyst theme going, the guys welcomed Al Leiter on to the Program.  Leiter does his analyzing for both the YES and the MLB Networks and he certainly didn't lack any energy this morning…
