L.I. Police Investigating Wyandanch Shootings

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police are investigating two separate weekend shootings that may be connected in Wyandanch.

Authorities said 16-year-old Tyler Daniels was fatally shot Sunday morning. Investigators said Daniels and two others tried to break into a home on Lake Drive before the teen was shot.

Police believe the shooter – possibly the homeowner – shot Daniels after he kicked down the front door.

On Sunday night, two teens – 17-year-old Demetrius Edwards and 18-year-old Jean Julien -- were shot in front of Daniels' home on Birch Street.

Edwards was shot in the back and arm was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in guarded condition. Julien was shot in the thigh and wrist and released after treatment.

Police are asking anyone with information about these shootings to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
