Cops: L.I. Woman Tried To Run Over Police Officers

NORTH LINDENHURST, N.Y. (1010 WINS / WCBS 880 / AP) -- A Long Island woman accused of trying to run over police officers after being stopped for a traffic violation has been arrested.

Suffolk County police say Mary Quinn, 47, of Ronkonkoma, was pulled over in Deer Park at 5 p.m. Monday. After the officer spoke to her, police say she fled and headed south on Route 231. During the pursuit, police say she intentionally struck four police vehicles and attempted to run over several officers on foot.

She was eventually stopped in North Lindenhurst.

One officer suffered a back injury. He was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and released.

Quinn was charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and other charges. She is to be arraigned on Tuesday.
